Samarkand Agricultural Institute was founded in 1929 and now it is one of the largest agrarian higher educational institutions in Central Asia. There are 5 faculties, of Agronomy, Veterinary, Zooengineering, Management in agriculture, and Agro engineering with 16 specialties.
The Institute has trained a lot of highly qualified specialists for different branches of agriculture for the republic of Uzbekistan and other neighboring countries.

Tashkent University of Information Technologies (TUIT) is the largest higher educational institution in Central Asia in the sphere of telecommunications and information systems. The university established in 1955.
